Freestanding Barrier (400mm)

The Freestanding Barrier (400mm) is designed to complement an exhibition and gallery environment, and discreetly remind visitors not to touch. The stable steel base and upright supports an elasticated cord that defines restricted access, and gently gives to the touch, thus avoiding tripping or injury. Slip resistant neoprene pads improve grip and protect floor surfaces.

When surrounding an exhibit the neutral finish and clean lines sit comfortably within the museum and gallery environment. An elasticated cord connects the barriers and draws a straight line in the air, blending with the architecture of the building and ensuring that the artwork is the object of attention. If choosing to define the protected space more sharply, the elasticated cord is available in red, white and black, highlighting the boundary of the exhibit. Our Freestanding Barriers have modular accessories such as Wall Terminators that allow clean tie-backs direct to the wall, and Signage Adaptors that when used with our Label Holders, transform the barriers into an informative venue.

It is important to select a barrier finish that blends well with the environment and minimises visual impact, and to assist this process our standard cord colour is grey. However, in areas where it is important to draw attention to the line, we can supply cord in a range of colours that will enhance the contrast. These are white, red or black.

If a floor is highly polished the barriers will need to be closer together (1.5m) than a floor that has plenty of grip, in which case barriers can be spaced further apart (2m).

Whenever possible, barriers should be placed in a symmetrical fashion in front of an artwork as this maintains good overall visual harmony.
